What does fixin' fence have to do with grant consulting?

Good question. Lots, in fact.

Fixing fence entails finding the weak spot and figuring out the best way to fix it. Does it need new wire? Does it need a new post? Does it just need the wires stretched and refastened? Or would it be best to just tear it all out and start fresh?

Plus, there's the blood, sweat, and tears to fixin' fence. In the heat of the day. In the bitter cold. Pinched fingers. Cuts. Bruises. Frustration over tangled wire.

Grant consulting is the same. Finding the weak spot and fixing it. Does the funder actually fit the program and project? Does the program have clear activities, outputs, and outcomes? Is it strong enough to hold together? Does it need minor fixes? Does it need a complete rebuild?
